Stellenbeschreibung
The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is looking to appoint an outstanding individual to a W2-Professorship in “Informatics in the Humanities“ within the Faculty of Natural Sciences III, Institute of Computer Science. We are looking for a person to represent the field of ‘Computer Science in the Humanities’ in teaching and research. The research focus of the professorship should include the modelling and analysis of data as well as the development and application of information technology tools that support humanities scholars in the processing of their philological, literary, historical and/or cultural studies questions. In-depth knowledge is expected in several of the following areas of computer science: Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Research Software Engineering, Web Engineering, 3D Modelling. By filling the professorship, Martin Luther University hopes to further strengthen the focus on ‘Computer Science in the Humanities’ at the Institute of Computer Science and the cooperation between the Institute of Computer Science and the humanities at Martin Luther University. Active participation in the profile areas ‘(Digital) Transformation’ and ‘Knowledge Cultures and Education’ at Martin Luther University is expected. Applicants should therefore be experienced in the management and processing of interdisciplinary projects with humanities scholars, and be recognized accordingly through relevant publications in international journals and at international conferences. The focus of the teaching offered by the professorship should be in the area of core computer science and expand the range of modules offered in the computer science degree programs. In addition, the professor should participate in the basic lectures of the Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science. Participation in university self-administration is also expected. Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. Applicants need to fulfill the pre-conditions of appointment as stipulated in section 35 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. Particular emphasis is placed on a Habilitation in the relevant field, or an equivalent level of scientific achievement and recognition. Candidates are expected to have attained the appropriate level of experience or qualification in teaching.
