With approximately 1,100 beds across 27 clinical departments and 28 institutes or affiliated units, it is the largest healthcare facility in northern Saxony-Anhalt and, in addition to research and teaching, offers the full spectrum of multiprofessional and highly specialized university-level comprehensive care.

Magdeburg University Medical Center stands for patient care of the highest standard, as well as for research, teaching, and innovation. High-performance, secure, and future-oriented IT and medical technology are essential foundations for the further development of the University Medical Center.

We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial leader to oversee the strategic and operational development of the University Medical Center’s IT and Medical Technology division and to serve as the managing director of changeMITdigital GmbH, to start as soon as possible. The position combines responsibility for the University Medical Center’s IT and medical technology with the entrepreneurial leadership and further development of changeMITdigital GmbH.

Your Responsibilities:

Management of the IT and Medical Technology Division
You will bear overall strategic, technical, financial, and organizational responsibility for the division and will consistently develop it in line with the requirements of a modern university medical center.

  • Strategic and operational management as well as the continuous development of the IT and Medical Technology division
  • Leadership, development, and technical guidance of assigned managers and employees
  • Development and implementation of a future-proof IT, technology, and medical technology strategy, as well as playing a key role in shaping the company-wide digital strategy
  • Strategic involvement in shaping the digital transformation and responsibility for its technological enablement, architecture, and sustainable integration into the IT/medical technology landscape
  • Ensuring efficient, service-oriented, and user-friendly IT operations for users (m/f/d) at the University Medical Center, as well as further developing and ensuring a highly available, secure, and resilient IT infrastructure
  • Responsibility for information and IT security, as well as the implementation of relevant legal and regulatory requirements
  • Further development of IT and medical technology process management, including failure, emergency, and business continuity plans
  • Strategic advancement of medical technology and its integration into clinical and digital processes
  • Management and prioritization of the IT, technology, and medical technology project portfolio, as well as participation in the company-wide prioritization of digitization and transformation initiatives
  • Further development of IT governance, enterprise architecture, target technology architecture, and operational and service models
  • Responsibility for the technological data architecture, data platforms, integration, interoperability, and the secure and resilient provision of data
  • Management of strategic service providers and technology partners, as well as the cost-effective and transparent use of financial and human resources
  • Close collaboration with the Executive Board, the clinics and institutes, the administrative and scientific departments, as well as the functions within the University Hospital responsible for digitalization, data management, and clinical information strategy

Management of changeMITdigital GmbH
In a dual role, you will serve as the managing director of changeMITdigital GmbH and bear the entrepreneurial, financial, and organizational responsibility for the company.

  • Overall strategic, operational, and financial responsibility for changeMITdigital GmbH within the framework of corporate law requirements and the shareholder’s strategic objectives
  • Development, implementation, and continuous refinement of the corporate strategy and positioning of the company as a high-performing IT and digitalization partner
  • Financial management, including financial planning, budgeting, controlling, and—to the extent provided for under corporate law—responsibility for results
  • Responsibility for organization, human resources, and the leadership and professional development of the company’s employees and executives
  • Further development of the service portfolio as well as appropriate business, operational, and service models
  • Management of key projects, contracts, service providers, suppliers, and business partners
  • Responsibility for appropriate risk, compliance, and contract management, as well as adherence to relevant legal, regulatory, and corporate law requirements
  • Representing the company in dealings with shareholders, customers, business partners, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Preparing and implementing shareholder resolutions, as well as providing transparent reporting to shareholders and the relevant governing bodies
  • Developing and managing strategic collaborations and partnerships, as well as identifying and realizing synergies between changeMITdigital GmbH and the University Hospital
  • Evaluating and developing additional business opportunities and collaboration models in line with the company’s strategic direction

A particular focus of the position is on the close strategic and operational integration of the IT and Medical Technology division with changeMITdigital GmbH. In doing so, you will ensure clear responsibilities, efficient structures, and a shared strategic direction. To this end, you will further develop a high-performing leadership and governance structure that clearly integrates strategic management, operational responsibility, and technical expertise.

What sets you apart:
For this prominent leadership position, we are seeking an individual who combines technological expertise, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial action. You view technology not as an end in itself, but as a strategic enabler for medicine, research, teaching, administration, and new care models.
