Ph.D. Cadidate (m/f/d)
The Institute for Medical Informatics and Biometry (IMB) is part of the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden. The institute's research focuses on medical biometrics, bioinformatics, systems biology/medicine, including mathematical modelling, as well as medical informatics. In addition to these scientific activities, the IMB offers various services (e.g., consulting and education programs in the field of medical data science) for faculty and students at the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital.
The position is part of the interdisciplinary research project “Virtual niche: Computational modelling and simulation of spatio-temporal dynamics of hematopoietic stem cells in their local microenvironment” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The core objective of the project is the development and application of a mathematical model that describes the spatio-temporal organization of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells in their local growth environment within the bone marrow. The goal of gaining a better understanding of the underlying processes is of central importance both for open questions in basic stem cell biology and for future medical applications.
