The ZIB is the central IT service provider for the Lower Saxony judiciary and is responsible for a modern IT infrastructure with approximately 23,500 clients. In addition, our team of 400 colleagues manages numerous digitization projects to support a modern judiciary.
To strengthen our team in Department 3108 – Databases, we are seeking, as soon as possible, a
Database Operations System Administrator (f/m/d)
Your responsibilities:
- Participate in the planning and implementation of highly reliable and highly available database systems in the areas of Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL
- Operating, configuring, monitoring, tuning, and backing up SQL Server and Oracle databases, as well as PostgreSQL in various versions in the future
- Development of scripts for various use cases, such as data migration scenarios
- Active participation in innovative IT infrastructure projects for the judiciary
What Sets You Apart:
- You hold a relevant college degree (e.g., computer science) or possess equivalent practical skills and experience.
- You have worked in the field of system administration and have solid experience and advanced knowledge in the planning and operation of at least one of the technologies listed above.
- Ideally, you have already gained experience operating SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and/or Oracle in large-scale environments and within a distributed infrastructure, and you are familiar with high-availability solutions.
- You have strong knowledge of database design and tuning.
- You also have a solid cross-functional understanding of common IT technologies such as MS Active Directory and Group Policy Management, Windows Server 2019 and later, Linux servers, MS SQL Server, Oracle, as well as SQL scripting and PowerShell scripting.
- You are a team player, take initiative, and are service-oriented.
- You are willing to travel occasionally within Germany for work.
- You have German language skills corresponding to Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as well as English language skills typical for the IT field.
You must be willing to undergo and pass a security clearance in accordance with Section 7(1) of the Lower Saxony Security Clearance Act (Nds. SÜG).
